Start at the Headland

There’s plenty of free parking available around Hartlepool Headland, making this an easy place to begin your walk.

Before you even set off, it’s worth taking a moment to look around, this area has a character of its own, with several pieces of interesting wall art adding colour and interest.

Walking with history

The route follows the promenade, offering wide open views of the sea and a refreshing coastal breeze. Along the way, you’ll pass the Heugh Battery Museum, home to fascinating First World War memorabilia.

It’s a great spot to pause if you have time, adding a deeper historical layer to what is otherwise a simple seaside stroll.
